Many of our members and volunteers have enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing trip on the Ashton Canal, from Portland Basin to Droylsden  (with a stop-off to buy chips), thanks to the East Manchester Community Boat Project  and their volunteers.

 “Community Spirit 2” is a specially designed narrowboat whose diesel engine has recently been replaced with an electric motor powered by batteries.  The smooth and silent running is very calming and passenger groups have unanimously endorsed the changes.
