TV and Film Acting for Beginners 

Duration: 10 weeks

Cost: £150 in 3 installments of £50 to be paid in advance at 3-weekly intervals.

All the profits from your fee will be redistributed to support free community theatre and arts projects for those struggling with mental or physical health in Trafford. Please be aware that attendance on this course is strictly limited to those trainees who have booked in advance

 

Working under the supportive direction of an experienced screen actor and lecturer you will develop, through a variety of workshop acting exercises, techniques and technical skills including relaxation, focus, concentration, hitting your mark, body language, cheating the camera, eye-lines, taking direction, blocking, and working practically in front of the camera. The course will involve working through short scenes while exploring and building a character.

Your scene will be recorded during the workshops so that you will be able to examine your progress the following week and receive a positive critique.

​​​​​The Tutor: Shaun has extensive knowledge of Film and TV Acting and that of Stanislavski’s system, Jerzy Grotowski’s Polish Laboratory Theatre, Eugenio Barba and his Odin Teatret school, François Delsarte, and Steven Berkoff. He has worked with theatres, drama schools and cultural organisations in this country and abroad, directing a range of productions and workshops in Manchester, Belfast, and across the UK and France. Organisations he has worked with include Disturbance Index, Reflex Theatre Company, The Performance Project, One in Four, Doncaster Arts, Gazebo Theatre, New Vic Borderlines, and Point-Blank Theatre. Shaun has previously worked alongside other specialist staff to develop and implement a series of workshops, seminars and productions to support the delivery of the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, HND Theatre and Foundation Degree.

 

The Venue: Broom House 54-56 Seymour Grove, Old Trafford, M16 0LNThe venue for our workshops is a beautiful converted Victorian manor house, which now serves as a wellbeing and arts centre. The venue provides free parking, is close (within 500 yards) to Trafford Bar tram station and has ample bus links to Oxford Road and Piccadilly Bus Station (bus service numbers 255, 256, 250, X50 and 263). ​​
